Valene Lafe Smith
I was born in Chihuahua Mexico and raised in Mexico and Central America. My
parents were missionaries to the jungle tribes and remote villages. I received
Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was 8 years old. I had many awesome
experiences growing up, that would take too long to share on paper. I have a
sister and two brothers. I thank God for my family who are all still serving the
Lord. I have three children, a son and two daughters who are all grown and two
of them are married, so I have been blessed with a fine son-in-law and
daughter-in-law.
My youngest daughter is still in
college. I also have 3 beautiful grandchildren and one on the way. God has been
so good to me.
I have
also served the Lord in Mexico as a missionary after I was grown, for four
years, around the Tampico and Veracruz areas. There are still churches and
ministry there to this day that are active. Praise God! We plant the seed and
the Lord gives the increase. I have ministered with movies, using flannel
graphs, singing, giving food and clothing and just ministering with the love of
Jesus. More recently I’ve been involved with street ministry and volunteering at
a life rehabilitation camp called The Good News Camp in Merkel Texas, which is
where I met and married my husband Scott who was also a counselor at the camp.
We both desire nothing more than to live the rest of our lives in service to our
Lord. I will go wherever the Lord leads us and do whatever He wants me to do. I
believe we are in the last days and the harvest is ripe.
I want to be one of the workers who will go and tell the Good News to the
world.
